Bonds with PIMCO Total Return as Surrogate

May 31st, 2008 No Comments

I have a significant chunk of my retirement money in the PIMCO Total Return Fund (PTTRX). I moved into this fund in July/August of 2007 based on my cycle analysis in the spring of that year. Continue reading

SOX Looking Better Each Day

May 31st, 2008 No Comments

The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index (SOX) continues to hold above the 1:1 Gann Angles which is a strong position to be in. If price breaks through the current 3/8 retrace and 2:1 down angle line, then I can see it moving to 440 in a hurry. Continue reading

Market Rotation or Just Distribution

May 30th, 2008 2 Comments

I thought the market looked “OK” yesterday with good price movement of the indices and higher volume on the Nasdaq (COMPQ). When I looked deeper at the breadth of my top 100 growth stocks (mechanically generated each day) Continue reading

PowerShares DB Agriculture Fund

May 29th, 2008 No Comments

The PowerShares Agriculture Fund (DBA) looks interesting. Agriculture futures have been declining since the end of February. Interesting that it has been moving opposite of the market all year. The 50/50 point is very close and this ETF should be watched for the next week or two to see how it reacts. Continue reading

QQQQ Price in Balance with Time

May 28th, 2008 No Comments

The Powershares QQQ Trust (QQQQ) is in balance in price and time. Price moved through the 50/50 point and continues up the 1:1 ascending Gann Angle. Volume was better today but not as high as during the decline last week. Continue reading

Russell 2000 Walking Gann Angle Plank?

May 28th, 2008 No Comments

The Russell 2000 Index (RUT) bounced off the 50% price retrace line at the high. It has been walking down the 2:1 descending angle for a couple weeks. It may just end up back at the 50% price retrace line at 50% time — which looks to be about mid-June. Continue reading

I missed the short term as the SP500 Index (SPX) bounced off the 3/8 line instead of the 50% retrace line. Continue reading

Scaling the Gann Square of 9

May 23rd, 2008 No Comments

In a post earlier this week I discussed my aversion to arbitrary scaling of angles and numbers in the square of nine. In this post I want to show mathematically why it is wrong to multiply/divide by an arbitrary number (usually 10) in an attempt to make the data fit the tool. Continue reading

QQQQ Looks Good in Long Term Elliott Wave Analysis

May 22nd, 2008 2 Comments

The Powershares QQQ Trust (QQQQ) squared out in the short term yesterday and looks strong in the long term. Price continues above the 4:1 Gann Angle of the Mar05-Oct07 range. Price recently bounced off the 1:1 descending angle (as expected) and could move all the way to the 1:1 ascending line without losing it’s bullish attitude. Continue reading

SPX Setting Up for Date with 50/50 Point?

May 21st, 2008 No Comments

The SP500 Index (SPX) could be setting up for a move back to the 50/50 point and a move into a June high. Of course, this is a guess. But using market geometry allows me to see what “could” happen and when that possibility should occur. Continue reading

SPX Square Root Progression off 2002 Low

May 20th, 2008 4 Comments

The SP500 Index (SPX) move off the October 2002 low has followed the square of nine price progression. The mid-point slow down of wave three in June 2003 occurred 720 degrees from the low. Continue reading

PTV-Investing and the Gann Square of 9

May 20th, 2008 6 Comments

The square of nine is often referred to in writings of and about WD Gann. Based on the books I have read, the actual square traces back to the pyramids and Gann learned of it at some point in his life. Continue reading

QQQQ End of Day Range Square

May 19th, 2008 4 Comments

I’ve been watching the Powershares QQQ Trust (QQQQ) using only end-of-day prices and it looks in good shape from a price/time view. The price/volume view is not so good as there has been much less volume on the way up from March than there was coming down from October 2007. This fits in with my retest/new low scenario into the upcoming October. Continue reading
