Record monthly volume for the SP500 Index (SPX) and the SP100 Index (OEX) during July. As much as someone wanted to get rid of stuff in July, there was someone else who wanted to own it. Turnover like this is bullish in the long term. The previous holders (no matter where they bought it) are out. The current holders have only had it for less than a month. Weak hands into strong hands? That is the theory. For that many shares to be purchased in a month there must have been huge institutional interest in owning stocks of US companies. (Let’s just hope the institution buying the stock wasn’t the US Treasury.)
