Signs of college football are all over central Pennsylvania. On the way to see the worst professional baseball team in the US lose yet another game, I saw dozens of these structures in the fields surrounding Beaver Stadium. The students are not back yet, but someone has their priorities in the right place by getting these tailgate rest areas setup in plenty of time…

I am heading to the mountains of Cameron County for an overnight stay tomorrow. If the bears, the coyotes, the rattlesnakes, or the elk don’t get me, I should have plenty of peace and quiet to work on my weekend outlook.

    If you listen to Steve Goodman’s song “A Cub Fan’s Last Request” you can just substitute the Spikes’ name and “doormat of the minor league” in the lyrics. Hey, at least the seats are comfortable and the ballpark food is not bad!

    Candace - yes the food is good and the games are fun. But the Pirates are never going to any good when they have no talent in the minors. I have not seen the Curve (AA) yet so maybe they are better.

    Hey Mike - I’ve never been up in that area before but was looking at a map of it last weekend. Maybe I’ll take the family up that way next summer.
