I am in vacation mode for the next couple weeks and may not have access to a computer as the family heads to Lake Erie for some R&R. Last year on Lake Guntersville in Alabama I found time to post so maybe I’ll find a connection in Erie. Or maybe I’ll just let my brain relax for a few days and have more profound thoughts when I return. I will post a Weekend Outlook tomorrow.
Reader Locations from Google Analytics
I have been playing with Google Analytics and find it very useful to find reader information. Of course, I cannot tell who is reading the blog. But I can tell where readers are from and how often they visit. It appears it can be programmed to track specific events. But I do not have the time or desire to know that much information. I use only the standard reports. I recommend it to anyone with a blog or website. The best selling point on Google Analytics is that it is free.
One tool that is standard with Analytics is a map of the world showing where readers are viewing from. The map is clickable and you can find states and cities in the US. I want to say thank you to some of the regions around the country who regularly read this blog:
- New York – NYC and surrounding towns out to East Hampton, Freeport, Binghamton, Kirkwood, Elmira-Corning, and the Buffalo vicinity.
- California – all over the coast from south to north, centered mostly in LA and San Fran.
- Texas – Houston areas, DFW areas, Dyess AFB, Austin, San Antonio
- Pennsylvania – State College, Philadelphia areas, Meadville, Pittsburgh areas
- North Georgia – Canton, Woodstock, Atlanta, Rome (my wife taught there for a number of years)
- Florida – Orlando, Ft Myers, St Petersburg, Pompano Beach
- Michigan – Redford, Alba, Oak Park, Troy
- Illinois – Chicago, Harvard
- Montana – Bozeman, Missoula
- Washington – Port Townsend, Seattle, Spokane
Thank you for supporting this blog.
