Lower Volume Pullback in Oversold Market
October 15th, 2008 5 Comments
Even though price has retraced over one half of the move off the Oct 10 low, the number of stocks hitting a new 52 week low was very low today. At this point I see a positive consolidation off the low. Continue reading

Smallcaps Holding Up Better Than Gold and Silver
October 1st, 2008 No Comments
The Gold and Silver Index (XAU) has retraced 50% of the 2000-2008 move. The correction can quickly and a bounce could come. But the chart does not look strong in the intermediate term. Continue reading

Russell 2000 In Strong Long Term Position
September 12th, 2008 No Comments
The smaller growth companies cannot function in a recession or a weak credit environment. They do not have the resources to sustain a downturn with large damage. Unless this chart move below the August low I am long term bullish. Continue reading

Intermediate Term Position of Strength
September 3rd, 2008 No Comments
My short term view of the market is that it is very weak and most likely has topped until a retest or new low is put in - probably in October. But the longer term charts show the total market in a strong position when using the July 2007 to July 2008 range. Continue reading

Possible A-B-C Correction Complete
August 26th, 2008 2 Comments
One bullish possibility is that an A-B-C Elliott Wave correction has completed after five waves up from the July low. At this point there is a setup for possible upside. Until a move up starts, my guesses are for weakness. Continue reading

Low Volume Consolidation in Progress

I read today that the next couple weeks are very low volume affairs. I guess everyone is shopping at the back to school specials. It sure looks that way according to the Aeropostale Inc (ARO) long term chart. Continue reading

Another Good Day for the Nasdaq Composite
August 11th, 2008 No Comments
The Nasdaq Composite climbed on higher volume today while the SP500 Index (SPX) rose on lower volume - which maybe be due to more big cap energy issues in the SP500 than on the Nasdaq. Continue reading

Recent IPO LL As Range Square Example
July 23rd, 2008 No Comments
I have found that range squares work well with my top 100 growth stocks. It is rare that one of these stocks setups nicely within the square of the range, but Lumber Liquidators (LL) has done so. I will follow this over the next several weeks and provide updates if anything interesting occurs. Continue reading

Weekend Outlook - 19Jul08
July 19th, 2008 No Comments
Looking back to the 1987 crash as a low the SPX is in pretty good shape. Price followed the 1:2 line until 1997. Had price corrected here and then resumed the trend the SPX would be exact in the same place as it currently is. Continue reading
