The market internals show a possible rally setup, while the long term Elliott wave analysis shows a potential for more significant downside. The suggested strategy is to not guess and wait for the market to show it’s hand before allocating cash. Continue reading

The market is oversold. The time cycle turned last week. The key from this point is the price action at the point the internals become over bought again. At this point I am neither bullish or bearish. The trend for the remainder of the year will be obvious over the next few weeks. Continue reading

The cycle on my roadmap hit this week and I assume a low will be made within a few days next week. It is possible the low is in now, but a gap down on Monday will not worry me if price recovers quickly. A continuation of last week’s price action would invalidate my call on this cycle turn. Continue reading

There is not much to discuss this weekend. The financial system was saved by the US government. Paulson let it go all the way to the edge so he would be able to scare congress into acting. It is still unclear if congress is smart enough to do the right thing, but Paulson knows what he is doing. Continue reading

Short term the market swing chart is not is great position. I continue to expect (or will not be surprised) by a move to SP500 Index (SPX) 1150. But the situation this fall looks much better. Using the Value Line Arithmetic Index (VLE) as the state of the total market we can see that price and time are in a favor. Continue reading

It looks like the problems of FNM and FRE will be cleaned up next week. This should be good for the market but nothing is certain. Play the market the way it moves. Watch for a big rally into next Thursday/Friday/Monday and then a rollover. Continue reading

Discussion of why I believe the October low will be “the” low before a new five wave bull market. While the SP500 Index (SPX) e-wave charts do little to support this guess, the total market is in much better shape. Continue reading

Price finally busted above the rally day six high with a strong outside day that finished at the high on Friday. Volume was off a little from Thursday but the weekly volume was well above average. Volume on the Nasdaq Composite (COMPQ) was about equal to Wednesday and Thursday’s volume. This is day 18 of the rally and the COMPQ looks very strong. Continue reading

The Smallcap 600 Index (SML) had the best week of all stock indices. It has been up four straight weeks on good volume. Last week was basically a lower volume consolidation week for the other indices. The SP500 Index (SPX) and Nasdaq Composite Index (COMPQ) both finished up but about where they started the week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (INDU) finished slightly down. Continue reading

Looking back to the 1987 crash as a low the SPX is in pretty good shape. Price followed the 1:2 line until 1997. Had price corrected here and then resumed the trend the SPX would be exact in the same place as it currently is. Continue reading
