The Square of 52 on the Nasdaq 100 is approaching 104 weeks beyond the 2007 top. Price has moved back to 50% of the range of the first 52 weeks. This cycle is one to watch since a correction is eventually going to occur.

Weekend Outlook – 12Jul09

The market is in the right position to move up in the next week or two from 5-10% below the current level. At the minimum, I expect a test of the high before this move is complete.

Analysis of the square root price progression shows price has moved 720 degrees off the market low. This level often provides a top of some nature. In this case, a top to regroup and then move higher. The May cycle turn is near and price is not making a low as hoped for.

AAPL Not Taking Advantage of Strong Position
July 21st, 2008 7 Comments
Apple Computer (AAPL) was setup in a strong position but has not taken advantage of that position and looks to be ready to break down. My long term outlook has been weak for a while. But I was thinking AAPL could get a nice bounce with the market. I think it is do or die time for this chart.

Square of 90 on SP500 Index

As a follow up to a previous post on the Square of 90, I want to show an current example of the square in use. As discussed previously, the “Y” axis of price is arbitrary and time is the important aspect of the Gann Square of 90.

Scaling the Gann Square of 9

In a post earlier this week I discussed my aversion to arbitrary scaling of angles and numbers in the square of nine. In this post I want to show mathematically why it is wrong to multiply/divide by an arbitrary number (usually 10) in an attempt to make the data fit the tool.

The square of nine is often referred to in writings of and about WD Gann. Based on the books I have read, the actual square traces back to the pyramids and Gann learned of it at some point in his life.

New High on Volume in Nasdaq
May 1st, 2008 No Comments
The COMPQ made a new high since January on good volume. The QQQQ also had good volume and has some room to move before hitting the 1:1 red Gann Line discussed on Tuesday. The SPX had about the same volume as on Wednesday with about at 24 point move.

QQQQ Paused at 50% Retrace
April 29th, 2008 1 Comment
If the QQQQ can break through the 50% retrace line then I think it will go to the 1:1 descending slope around 50. The market is pausing and waiting for the Fed and the GDP numbers.

Assuming we take out the April high, I think we will move to the 1:1 down Gann line. SPX 1440 is 90 degrees above 360 degrees (1402) and also 5/8 from the low.
